Exotic Cruises

About 75% of the Earth is covered by the oceans and most great cities are seaports or very near the ocean. Taking a cruise is the easiest and most exciting way to see and explore these exotic locations. You can take a cruise to every continent and even take the ultimate adventure - a cruise around the world. This page examines some of those choices which grow in number and variety every year as cruising captures more and more guests.

World Cruises

The ultimate cruise and many people's lifetime dream (mine included) is to take a World Cruise. With three excellent choices, our top rated choice is the awesome new Radisson's Seven Seas Voyager - our top rated ship overall and top rated cruise line. Radisson offers the best service we've ever experienced. The food is outstanding and this ship offers 4 restaurants with open seating dining so you can eat with whom you want and when you want. Imagine yourself on a World Cruise with only 700 other guests on this outstanding ship!

The second would be Crystal's Serenity, which is also an excellent choice with exotic destinations that can’t be missed. Service and food is as good as Radisson. And finally Holland America's classic Amsterdam of 61,000 tons takes her first World Cruise. Crystal has been surpassed in the overall rankings by Radisson's Voyager, which is an all-suite, all balcony ship the same size as Crystal Serenity but holds 250 fewer passengers. This is as good as it gets so book early as these World Cruises sells out quickly every year.

Radisson Seven Seas Voyager our top rated 2007 World Cruise takes her World Cruise from January 9, 2007 to April 30, 2007. The voyage is round-trip Ft. Australia/New Zealand

Sydney is one of the most beautiful port cities in the world.

Australia and New Zealand are two of the fastest growing cruise destinations in the world. After the Sydney 2000 Olympics more and more people want to cruise to these wonderful destinations with the most friendly people in the world and some of the most beautiful and interest sites to see anywhere.

Most cruises to Australia and New Zealand begin or end in Sydney. The season for these cruises is during their summer time and our winter, so cruises are usually between November to March. This is a lovely time of the year to visit these great countries. These cruises are typically about 14-nights long and many include ports of calls in Melbourne, Tasmania, Milford Sound in New Zealand which are as spectacular as the Norwegian Fjords, Doubtful Sound, Dunedin (strong Scottish influence), Christchurch (strong British influence with beautiful gardens and their own Avon River), Tauranga, and Auckland, New Zealand.

Some cruises from/to Australia include Bali, Indonesia and Singapore for even more exotic locations. Often segements of world cruises incldue Australi segments.

Our favorite cruise lines to Australia/New Zealand are Crystal or Radisson for luxury cruises. Princess also offers a few cruises to Australia/New Zealand as well. Prices vary dramatically from premium to luxury rates. Please keep in mind that round-trip airfares to Australia will add about $1200 to $1500 or more to the total cost.

Tahiti

Our favorite ship to Tahiti is Radisson's Paul Gauguin. She does mostly 7-night cruises round-trip from Papeete She does a few longer cruises around Christmas/New Years. This is a small luxury vessel that holds only 300 highly pampered guest. This is a great way to see multiple islands in style & comfort. We highly recommended Radisson's Paul Gauguin for Tahiti.. Prices start around $2495 per person plus low cost air add-ons of only $599 to $999 for an oceanview cabin (there are no inside cabins). We recommend you pay a little extra and get a cabin with a private balcony. You won't ever cruise without one again.

Occasionally Radisson offers free economy air included or a free 3-night hotel stay at the Hotel Le Meridien Tahiti. Business Class upgrades are also available for half of normal costs.

Princess has also started offering some moderately priced cruise options with two of the now bankrupt Renaissance ships renamed Pacific Princess and Tahitian Princess.

South America/Antarctica/Africa!

South America is becoming another fast growing destination as North American's start to explore their Southern friends. South American cruises include cruises around Cape Horn between Santiago and Buenos Aires or Rio De Janeiro (pictured to the right). There are also cruises that go deep into Brazil

These cruises range from about 12-days to 61 days. Most are 14-night cruises. Our favorite cruise ships to South America are:

Our favorite South America cruise is the 59-day complete circling of South America on out top rated Radisson Seven Seas Mariner . This fantastic ship holds only 700 people. Every cabin is a suite with a private balcony and at least 301 square feet. The 2007 circle South America cruise starts Jan. 9, 2007 at about $25,000 per person for a balcony cabin. What a cruise! Great ship and an incredible itinerary. You can purchase the whole tour or just one of the three segments.

14-night South America cruises on Celebrity Infinity - Only luxury class ships like Radisson & Crystal are better ships than Infinity but no ships beat their value. Sailings are between Ft. Lauderdale & Valparaiso in Decmeber or January, then several sailings featuring the outstanding itinerary between Valparaiso and Buenos Aires (a great city to spend extra time in before or after the cruise), and later from Valparaiso back to Ft. Lauderdale in March. There is also usually one cruise that features Carnaval with the ship docking in Rio for a few days so you can enjoy Carnaval. Please book about a year in advance if possible and check our Great Deals page for best values to South America.
