The Grandeur’s and Enchantment are the 1996 and 1997 versions of the very popular “Vision” ships from Royal Caribbean. Like the Legend of the Seas they have a seven-story Centrum lobby, a Viking Crown lounge with 360 degree views at the top of the ship, the Windjammer casual restaurant in the front of the ship with 180 degree views facing forward, two-story dining rooms and more. These two ships are a little larger than the Legend and Splendour and both ships are in the Caribbean year-round.
Both are large ships at 74,137 tons but hold only 2440 passengers. There is plenty of room throughout these gorgeous ships including the stunning atrium. We love the Windjammer Cafe which faces the bow (the "pointy end of the ship" as one of our Norwegian Captains once explained.) It is a great place to eat, relax and watch the world float by.
There is also a two-story dining room with huge walls of glass and a curved staircase that wraps around a grand piano. It doesn't get any more luxurious than this. Some of the ultra-luxury ships may get slightly higher ratings because they serve three brands of caviar, but none of them have stunning two-story dining rooms like these!
The Solarium is the ultimate swimming pool with a retractable roof, fountains and columns that look like a Roman bath.
There is a very large children's center on each ship. It is a special place with supervised fun for your kids, while Mom & Dad get some time for themselves. There are extensive activities planned for the kids throughout your cruise.
The kids have a ball on board. The trained counselors are terrific.
Teens have their own large private club just for teens, which is the way they like it.
Cabins
The verandah cabins are large and luxurious with your own private balcony. You can go outside anytime you wish from the privacy of your room. This is the top rated new feature of the new generation cruise lines. All the top new ships have a large number of cabins with verandahs because they are so popular. Verandah cabins cost only a few hundred dollars per person more than an inside cabin, an incredible bargain! It is our favorite cabin category. The larger Category C is shown below:
