Radiance Class introduced the glass/wood around the ship making it feel open. Royal Caribbean WOW the world with the Voyager Class of ships and set the stage to incorporate multi-generational families onboard with the ice-skating rink, Royal Promenade, mini-golf, and the rock-climbing walls. The Freedom Class was an enhancement of the Voyager Class with a boxing ring and Flowrider. The Quantum Class made daring new features to the ship like the RipCord, North Star, and SkyPad as well as upgraded the dining venues- El Loco Fresh, Coastal Kitchen, and Playmakers. Royal Caribbean went back to the drawing board to up the WOW factor with the Oasis Class brought the outside into the ship with the Boardwalk, Central Park, and the cantilever whirlpools. Waterslides, laser tag, Royal Escape Room, Hooked Seafood, Port Side BBQ were introduced. You didn't need to leave the ship at this point. Everything you could want to do was onboard. Royal Caribbean decided to "Amplified" the ships- some ships throughout the fleet got upgraded with the popular features- waterslide, Playmakers, and Escape Room.
I for one can't wait to see what the Icon Class brings to the table. Icon will be one of three ships powered by LNG (liquefied natural gas) which is to be environmentally friendly boosting efficiency and less carbon footprint. Icon ship is expected to be delivered Fall 2023 with the second ship delivery in 2025, and the third ship delivery in 2026.
