If you've been sailing with Regent Seven Seas Cruises for a while, you may remember a time when business class airfare was simply part of the package. It was one of the hallmarks that set Regent apart from every other luxury cruise line — the idea that your ultra-luxury experience began the moment you left home, not just when you stepped aboard the ship. That has changed, and if you're planning a Regent sailing, it's important to understand exactly what the air program looks like today.
When Business Class Was Included
For many years, Regent Seven Seas Cruises included roundtrip business class airfare as part of their all-inclusive fare — and it was a genuinely compelling offer. Guests flying from the United States to Europe, Asia, or other long-haul destinations were booked in business class as standard, making Regent's all-inclusive promise truly comprehensive. For travelers comparing luxury cruise lines, this was often the deciding factor. The math was simple — when you factored in the cost of international business class tickets, Regent's fare was frequently competitive with or better than lines that appeared cheaper on the surface.
What Changed
Regent eventually moved away from the blanket business class inclusion, transitioning to a more flexible model where guests can now choose their preferred class of service — economy, premium economy, business, or first class — with the cost varying accordingly. This shift reflected broader changes in airline pricing, as international business class fares had risen dramatically, making it increasingly difficult to absorb the cost universally across all routes and departure cities. While the change disappointed many loyal Regent guests, the core all-inclusive experience — unlimited shore excursions, fine dining, beverages, and gratuities — remained firmly intact.
What Regent's Air Program Looks Like Today
Regent's current air program still offers significant value and a level of personalized service that goes well beyond what most cruise lines provide. Here's exactly what you need to know.
The Ultimate All-Inclusive Fare includes roundtrip flights with the flexibility to choose your preferred class of service — economy, premium economy, business class, or first class. The fare also covers complimentary airport-to-ship transfers and the Blacklane private chauffeur credit. Air arrangements including routing, scheduling, and carrier selection are at Regent's discretion, though customization options are available.
The Custom Air option allows guests to take control of their own flight arrangements. Available from 210 days prior to sailing, Custom Air lets you request a specific airline, routing, or scheduling preference. There is a $75 non-refundable call service fee, which if the presented option is accepted within three days becomes part of the existing $175 per person customization fee. Regent's top-tier loyalty members — Platinum, Titanium, Diamond, and Commodore — receive one complimentary Custom Air deviation, including the waiving of the $75 call service fee.
Your booking must be deposited and your Guest Information Form completed with passport details before Custom Air can be requested.
The Air Concierge Desk is one of Regent's most valuable and underutilized resources. Available to guests with deposited Ultimate All-Inclusive Fare bookings, the Air Concierge team works personally with you or your travel advisor to review flight options, discuss preferences, and help navigate changes to your flight itinerary. There is a non-refundable fee for changes, plus any applicable service charges and airline-imposed fees, so it pays to plan ahead and engage the desk early.
The Blacklane Private Transfer Credit adds a premium touch to your journey that many guests overlook. Guests on roundtrip Ultimate All-Inclusive Fare bookings receive $250 per person — up to $500 per suite for two guests — as a Blacklane voucher for private executive chauffeur service. The voucher covers transfers starting 10 days before embarkation and up to 10 days after disembarkation. Guests booking a one-way flight receive $125. If Blacklane is unavailable in your city, Regent will apply the equivalent value as a shipboard credit instead. Guests in the Regent Suite enjoy unlimited Blacklane private transfers within 100 miles.
One Important Note on Business Class Today
Even when booking business class through Regent's air program, it's worth noting that due to recent airline policy changes, all classes of service — including business class — may no longer automatically include luggage, seat assignments, or lounge access depending on the carrier. Always confirm the specific amenities included with your airline directly, as these vary by carrier and booking channel.
The Bottom Line
Regent's air program today is different from what it once was, but it remains one of the more thoughtful and guest-friendly offerings in luxury cruising. The combination of flexible class of service, the Custom Air option, the Air Concierge Desk, and the Blacklane transfer credit means that Regent guests have more support and flexibility around their flight arrangements than they would find with most competitors. The key is to engage early — air availability and class of service options are best when you act well in advance of your sailing.
